Meet Dr. Peña

Real care, one person at a time

Dr. Peña practices in Poughkeepsie, helping people untangle what sits underneath the symptom. He takes the whole picture into account, your history, your relationships, your beliefs, and works toward long-term change rather than a quick patch.

For clients who want it, faith can be part of the conversation. For those who don't, the work stands on its own. Either way you get the same thing: someone who listens carefully and tells you the truth.

What to expect

Four steps, no surprises

Most people put off calling because they don't know what they're walking into. Here's the whole thing, start to finish.

01
You reach out

Call the office or send the form. We'll ask what's going on and find a time that works.

02
First session

Mostly listening. You talk about what brought you in; nothing is off limits and nothing is required.

03
We find the root

Symptoms are the surface. We work backward to what's causing them, at whatever pace you can handle.

04
You leave steadier

The aim is that you don't need us forever. You'll have tools that keep working on your own.

Our approach

Holistic means we don't leave half of you outside the door

Our desire is to strive for holistic wellness. We take one person at a time and we love the ones we're with. In practice that means looking at the natural and the spiritual side of a situation, because most of what people bring us is sitting in both.

Root cause over symptom management. We're not interested in keeping you in a chair for years.
A genuine no-judgement zone. Whatever you say in the room stays in the room.
Godly counsel, if you ask for it. Faith is available, never imposed.

Carlos Melissa Rios
★★★★★

"What interested me most about receiving counseling services from Dr. Peña is my ability to receive godly counsel. He takes into consideration both the natural and spiritual aspect of circumstances and situations to help you get to the root so that the healing process can begin. If you are serious about your healing and growth process, look no further. This is a no judgement zone. I would definitely recommend."

Common questions

Before you call

The questions we get most. Anything else, just ask on the phone.

Read the full FAQ →
How long is a session, and how many will I need?

Sessions run about an hour. How many depends entirely on what you're working through. We'll give you an honest read after the first one rather than selling you a package up front.

Is anything I say confidential?

Yes. What happens in the room stays in the room, with the narrow legal exceptions every counselor has to follow. We'll walk you through those in the first session.

Do I have to be religious to come here?

No. Plenty of clients never bring faith up, and that's completely fine. It's there if you want it and left alone if you don't.
